China supplier Alnico magnets rod magnet for Guitar pickup parts
Alnico Magnet is composed primarily of Aluminum,Nickel,Cobalt,Copper and Iron. It have very good corrosion resistence and high max working temperature, can reach 550deg.C. Although other materials offer greater energy and coercivity values, the high remanence and thermal stability of Alnico makes it the most cost effective material for certain applications, like generator, microphone lifting, voltmeters and measuring instruments. Alnico rod magnets can have very strong flux output and are stable at high temperatures. A guitar pickup's magnet or magnets provide(s) the power that enables it to do its thing by sensing the movement of the guitar's steel strings when you play.

FAQ:
Q1. What is the difference between Alnico 2 and alnico 4 and alnico 5?
A1. Alnico 2 magnets have a warm tone with creamy mids and less output, while alnico 5 magnets provide higher output, more bass, and stinging, clear treble. To my ear, the less-common alnico 4 magnets have a balanced and clear tone with all frequencies present and even, and I love the way they sound in a bridge humbucker.
Q2. Which is better neodymium or alnico pickup?
A2. With magnetic strength nearly seven times that of ceramic, neodymium pickups output much stronger signals than both ceramic and alnico pickups. Furthermore, they require fewer windings in their coils to do so. Neodymium is much more brittle than alnico and ceramic and also lasts much longer.
Q3. Is alnico 8 stronger than alnico 5?
A3. Alnico 5 has a higher Residual Induction, but a lower Coercive Force. Alnico 8 has a lower Residual Induction, but a higher Coercive Force. This immediately suggests that Alnico 8 will have a larger magnetic field compared to Alnico 5 when magnets are short compared to their pole area.
Q4. How do you tell if a pickup is ceramic or alnico?
A4. Look at the bottom of the pickup. Unscrew it and flip it over. If you see 8 poles, then they are alnico. If you see two large ceramic magnets stuck to 8 steel poles, then it is ceramic.
Q5. Why are Alnico pickups better than ceramic?
A5. Alnico magnets are softer and typically weaker than ceramic, contributing to a lower-output and responsive pickup. Often, the tone is described as warm, smooth, musical, or sweet. Players who enjoy those clean single-coil sounds of rock and blues swear by alnico pickups.
